Jain Mornings | India Memories // With less than 12 hours to scout an ancient city, we looked for the places that took our breath away. An old Jain temple on the top of a mountain, once only reachable by 1,000 hand carved steps, served as our first location of the marathon shoot, with a sunrise that woke the clouds like slumbering galaxies, and a deep blue born of dawn shadows, we painted with the early light and danced in its ambling glow. #IndiaDays (at Jaipur, India)
The Stepwell | India Memories // Recursion made real, this ancient stepwell was like Escher in stone, four identical sides reaching deep into the earth, a thousand years of engineering practices and old lore. I’d known from the beginning that we had to find a place like this to tell our story, from the legendary well in Tarsem’s “The Fall,” to McCurry’s excellent work in India during the monsoon, I’d see enough of these wonders of architecture to know we wanted one in the world we were building. Morning Light | India Memories // Running on just a few hours sleep, we made it to the lake for this pure peach sunrise and dawn silence. This was our origin story, where the histories say that before this time began, there was no earth and no space between. A vast ocean washed upon the shores of nothingness and kissed the edges of the night. And so we searched for these beginnings. #IndiaDays (at Jaipur The Pink City)
The Red Hall | India Memories // Racing to catch the very last light of day, we hustled through ancient halls accompanied only by the memory of old empires. Watching sunset turn into blue hour, we made some of my favorite moments from a production filled with favorite moments - and let the magic of the place take hold. #IndiaDays (at City Palace, Jaipur)
