Home Again, A Sea Of Sand Pt. II | We forget how cold a desert can be before the sun is up. Caught up in warm hues and shadeless vistas, there is only sun in our minds, and so sun there shall be. But at dawn, when the world is quiet, and all the light is yours, your breath fogs above the sea of sand, hands struggling to flex and function - and you remember that you love it here. A world built only of extremes, greatness on a slim spectrum. And I think of all the world’s climates and locales, of its vistas and special places that I have had the pleasure to find, photograph and behold, I love the desert the most. I have always loved it. Perhaps it’s the emptiness, or, its vastness of spirt, maybe the stories it conjures, or else, the self it forces you to confront. I only know there is so much beauty and power and greatness and cold, in that sea of sand. #TheWorldTour (at Dubai, United Arab Emirates)

The Little Prince & The Sea Of Sand | Circumventing the world in three weeks time means there’s little room for sleep or error, moving from continent to continent, camping on airplanes, catching each dawn and every sunrise, you find yourself operating at a different frequency, meeting hundreds, collecting names and memories like fireflies, bridging worlds and building bridges, searching out the hidden spots, the little truths, the good adventure, committing it to memory with fine-tipped pen, building a cheat sheet of the world’s finer points, its people, its traditions, its humor and its food - you create a tapestry of your experiences, cataloging it for others in your pictures and your words, piecemealing it out for others to share (from their bedrooms and their offices), you do your best to demonstrate that human beings are, fundamentally, the same. We just look and sound a little different. Welcome to the Middle East, welcome to Dubai. #TheWorldTour (at Nazwa Desert)

Operetta | All blue and white and arcing lines, we took what we got in 103° sunlight, fighting our second summer on a new continent. Two weeks into the New Year, three new countries explored and new families made, we’ve taken to sunrises and quiet hours, filling our days past the breaking points, forgoing sleep for long-haul flights in our bid to circumnavigate the entire planet in 26 days. Goodbye Australia, hello tomorrow. #TheWorldTour (at Sydney Opera House)

A Loudly Breaking Wave | Welcome to Australia // All points east, another day begins at blue hour, spent scouring beaches and caves for all the light we cannot see. Full of wiry energy after a circumnavigation of the planet, glancing off the edge of the South Pole on our way from Southern Hemisphere to Southern Hemisphere, riding an endless summer beyond time zones and countries. Here, there is only perfect twilight, beautiful new people, and adventures just past the horizon, kissing the first clouds orange with their promise. #TheWorldTour (at Sydney, Australia)

Farewell Stairs & Escher Goodbyes | On our last day in Rio, we saw beauty in all its forms, in the hidden places. We found it in the summer storms, the wet heat that painted lines down the small of your back, in the afternoon light that made the pavement glow. We knew in a way that we’d be back, that we had to come back - and that each colorful wall and slab of concrete was a story we hadn’t found yet, and that it was the people that rang the pulse of the city, filling the world with a warmth beyond rising mercury, but rather one of words and song and turn of phrase, all flashing eyes in summertime heat. Saying only, knowingly, again and again: “you’ll be back.” #TheWorldTour (at Alto Vidigal)

Welcome to Rio | Less than 10 hours in-country and we’ve hit the city’s highest and lowest points, from Copacabana to Vidigal we scoured the city for its secrets and sights, pursued by that famous heavy weather. Clouds rolled and roiled, bringing sunsets to stop you in your tracks, and a thunderstorm that rattled windows and flooded streets - then, we watched our first sunset from the equator, and took in the (perpetually) summer night. #TheWorldTour (at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

Sky Camp Blues | There at the edge of the world, 13 miles into tradition and home field advantage, we took in the gold coast. Full of sights and crisp winter sun, we remembered hill and dale, bobcats and mountain meadows, secret beaches, high tides, and our own personal waterfalls - each vision a kindness. Starting this year out strong, full of new lands and long hauls, we try and treasure the simple things we love, above all. #KeepWalking (at Point Reyes National Seashore)

MAKE IT COUNT | NYE MMXVI // Grateful for a year filled with incredible people and grand adventures, visiting a new country every single month, being trusted to help tell powerful stories, summitting vast mountains and writing up brand new worlds in feature-length. For all the bad, there is so much good. Expect greatness of the world around you, hold it to a high standard - let hope win. Glad to have met some many wonderful people this year from so many walks of life. Thankful for my brother-in-arms @MaximilianGuen for dreaming even bigger than I ever could, and going all in, all the time. And to the one and only @RosannaBach, who keeps the whole ship running smoothly with her boundless energy. The reign of @MAGNACARTA.tv continues. Thanks for following along with the journey #KEEPWALKING (at Marin Headlands)
